Cog-D study details

The Cognitive Daisy (COG-D) in care homes to support person-centred care: A feasibility CRT

Study period; April 2022-March 2024

PURPOSE

This 24-month feasibility cluster randomised controlled trial aims to recruit 8-10 care homes (randomly allocated to intervention or usual care) for investigating the feasibility of conducting a future large-scale cluster RCT to assess the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of the Cognitive Daisy Intervention in care homes.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

The primary aim is to investigate the feasibility of conducting a future large-scale cluster RCT (cRCT) to assess the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of the COG-D intervention in care homes. This study is designed to address specific areas of uncertainty about conducting a definitive trial of the intervention in this setting.

We will collect quantitative outcome data alongside an integrated mixed-methods process evaluation to explore the feasibility and acceptability of key study parameters and processes from the care home and resident’s perspective.
