“The effects of the project within my organisation have been positive, enabling team members to have a more detailed understanding of how people’s individual cognition effects their daily lives, and more importantly how as a team they can support individuals to live a full and meaningful life in line with individuals persons aspirations. The project has benefitted the teams involved; it has broadened their understanding of how Dementia affects individuals, looking in some detail at specific areas of cognition. Teams have been able to review and update care plans, to reflect the additional information that the project has given. Residents themselves, who have been involved in the project, have in some cases been keen to learn their individual results from the assessment process; this level of interest has also been evident from some family members. The team’s involvement has also enabled them to gain further knowledge of how Dementia can be assessed and the benefits that this in turn can have on the individuals they are caring for”
